CHOOSING YOUR WOOD

Choosing solid wood for your project.

Different woods suit different jobs. All of our boards are solid wood, kiln-dried and prepared in our Bavarian workshop. The notes here should help you choose the right material and finish for your project.

Which wood species should I choose?

Oak is hard, durable and versatile. European and American walnut are darker and work well when you want a more distinctive finish. Cherry has a warmer tone, while maple is lighter and more understated. Every board has its own grain, colour and natural character.

Rough-sawn or planed & jointed?

Choose rough-sawn wood if you want to machine the board yourself. Planed & jointed is the better starting point if you want straight edges and clean, accurately machined faces before beginning your project.

Is the wood kiln-dried?

Yes. Our solid wood is kiln-dried to approximately 8–12% moisture content. That makes it suitable for furniture, interiors and other indoor woodworking projects.

Can I order solid wood cut to size?

Yes. Choose from the available lengths, widths and thicknesses on each product page. We prepare the wood in our workshop in Bavaria, pack it carefully and ship it worldwide free of charge.

Not sure which wood is right for your project?

Every wood species has its own colour, grain and character. Tell us what you're building and we'll help you find the right solid wood board for your project.
